It was a warm sunny afternoon, the breeze was steady and gentle, and the leaves were giving just the right amount of shade. It was a day that was perfect in every way, it flattered her golden skin, and made her hair seem to wave around her like a brilliant cloud. She smiled at her students and straightened her shoulders, thrusting her chest out even more.

"Good afternoon, children! My name is Salome, I am your new flying instructor! Now before we begin, I'd like all of you to take your places to the left of your brooms." she waited for a moment while they all arranged themselves in proper lines and continued.

"Now today the only thing we are going to be doing at first is summoning our brooms before moving on to other things. So I'd like each of you to raise your right hand over your broomstick and say clearly and loudly, 'UP!' "

Misery stared at the teacher. She seemed too cheerful. Poor thing. Maybe it was hereditary.

She stared down at her broom, and said up, but nothing happened. She pulled out a tin of lighter fluid, and dowsed the straw, saying nothing. She then held her lighter over it with one hand and the other was held open over it.

"Up!" she said in her most threatening tone. The broom jumped up into her hand instantly.

Sachiko thought this class was rather useless. What was the point in learning how to fly? It was just another way to doom them all, this death being more painful and messy than others.
She held her hand over her broom and called out quietly, 'Up' and was not surprised to see it jump into her hand.

Doomed, they were all just doomed.

Salome stared the girls. Similar in attitude if not age, they could have almost been sisters. Except for Sachiko being Japanese, that is.

She walked over and took the lighter fluid from Misery, not entirely sure how to address this.
"That's a very unique approach, dear. Why don't we stick with the more traditional methods, yes?" she stuffed the lighter in one pocket and the lighter fluid in the other and moved on.

"Very good Miss Takahashi, let's just correct your grip, shall we? After all, if you don't close your fingers around the handle you could have a nasty fall." she said while adjusting Sachiko's fingers and continued around the lawns helping the other students.
