Hogwarts After Dark

Miguel is in his early twenties, of Spanish and French heritage. He had two loving parents and a younger sister until last year. They were taking a tour to celebrate Miguel's appointment in the ministry, and were taking a roundabout route through Budapest.

None of the party was frightened at all. The parents were renowned Dark Arts experts and could handle themselves against anything, they thought.

They were wrong.

One night while Miguel was sleeping in the tiny, seedy inn they were spending the night in, a knock came to the door. His father saw it was the innkeeper who had his hands full of fresh slaughtered meat and held the door open and bid him entrance. It was the last thing he did as a living person. The innkeeper had become a vampire and slaughtered Miguel's father and mother and younger sister, Antoinette, who was only ten.

Grief stricken he left the town, swearing never to return. However, his family had risen, unkown to him, and they wanted a reunion. He traveled back to England, making several stops along the way, taking widely known routes, proven to be the safest. His first night in a hotel in France, he was awoken by a knocking on his door. When opening it, a horror was on the other side, his little sister, something on the corner of her mouth, looking terrified, and begging for help. He was about to reach for her and drag her in, shocked to see she was still alive, when a thin, filthy hand tried to grab him by the collar. His mother, stinking of the earth she had crawled out of, her clothes filthy and torn, her once elegant hair hanging down her back in lank ropy locks shrieked with laughter and tried to bring him into the hallway. The only thing that saved him was the glimpse of the cross he still wore around his neck. She hissed and backed away, and he slammed the door.

Looking down at his hand, he realized what had touched the corner of little Antoinette's mouth.

Blood.

He immediately flew nonstop back to England, and from there escaped to Hogwarts, throwing himself on the headmaster's mercy. He was taken in, and given a post, and made himself a small residence on the grounds. He never leaves it but to perform his duties, and returns to it immediately. Constant fear of his relations returning to him make him tremble, and he rarely if ever dares to leave the school grounds.
