Cassandra sat at her desk, bouncing a tiny peach colored ball. As it bounced, it seemed to warp a bit, becoming almost oblong in shape. She frowned, and rolled it around on the desk, then began to bounce it again.

"Good afternoon. Today we will be covering this darling little creation." she passed out several hollow plastic eggs, which held a ball similar to the one she held in her hand.

"This, my dears, is called "Silly-Putty" When using this phrase in reference to someone's personality, you can mean they are weak, or if you say, "They are like putty in my hands" you are referring to your ability to mold that person into whatever you want them to be, as well as their own spinelessness."

"Silly putty has been around since 1950, and was discovered by accident. Scientists were trying to create a synthetic replacement for rubber. Instead they created this pinkish flexible stuff that bounces when dropped on the floor" she bounced it on the floor a few times to demonstrate.

"Also, you can do this" she pulled out an issue of the comic Martin Miggs, the Mad Muggle, and flattened the putty over one of the panels, covering it completely. When she peeled it back, a mirror image was imposed on the rubbery sheet.

"Now bear in mind that if you do this, the words in the comic pictures will appear backwards on the putty, as it is a mirror image."

She pointed to a few students that had different colors. "Trendier versions of this product have come around from time to time. There are glow in the dark versions, metallic gold, bright colors, and some that will change color when warmed in your hand."

She paused for a moment as the students popped the eggs open. "Now you guys just play with those for a while, see what you can do with them, and I'll be at my desk planning the next lesson. Any questions, just ask them directly."

Mallory made a face at the strange smell when she popped the egg open and rolled it out obediently. She made several mirror images from her textbooks, but bored of that quickly. She made a ball of the stuff and began to bounce it on her desk a little, being careful not to bounce too hard so it wouldn't get out of her grip.
