Mallory sat at a corner table facing a huge sundae float. Sasparilla, vanilla chocolate and cherry vanilla ice cream scoops floating in the oversized mug, and cherry colored sprinkles. She scooped out a large mishmash of flavors and stuffed her mouth.
She whimpered and covered her mouth immediately, it was really cold. Brain freeze! as the muggles say. What a nice way to pass the time. Her dad had tagged along this time for the shopping, but quickly got sidetracked by the broom shop. Mallory didn't mind though.

*Prepare for the invasion*

Maggie pushed her way past the crowd almost blocking the door and spotted Mallory immediately. Cool as a cucumber in the August heat, quietly daydreaming about advanced instruction most likely. How annoying. Well, Maggie would certainly put an end to all that!

"Hi, Mal! Shove over, will you? Let me hide here till mum figures out I slipped away and tracks me here." unceremoniously she pushed away some of the older girls shopping bags and added her own to the pile, while physically shoving at the older girl with her body, taking a place in the booth. Leave it to Mallory to somehow capture a booth to herself during the school rush when everything was so crowded. She had to learn that trick someday.
